James 4:14-15 Be Prepared

By Jimmy Lau Since, life is short, what must we do? 1.  Don’t waste it . We must seize each day that is given to us: “ Redeeming the time, because the days are evil ”(Ephesians 5:16). “ Redeeming the time ” means, “ making the best use of time ” (ESV). The devil wants us to give him all the time that we have. The handphone is his finest tool. With the phone in the hand, many Christians have no time for God. Even the worship hour for God has been taken away by some who are glued to their phones. 2.  Live for eternity; serve God . The pursuit of the things in the world is vanity (Ecclesiastes 2:11). We need to pursue the thing that is most important: Serve God. Rather than assuming we will have more time for God later, we need to assume that all we have is today. Procrastination is the devil’s way to stop us from serving God. Our Lord says the time to serve Him is today, not tomorrow, or next year: “ Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say

James 1:13-14 on Temptation

by Jimmy Lau James 1:13-14   King James Version (KJV) 13  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14  But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. When we sin, it is because of our own choices. Certainly Satan can tempt us to sin and influence us, but the choice is ultimately our own. Think of when a doctor tells a patient to quit smoking. It is not the cigarette's fault, nor the tobacco company, when the patient continues to smoke; it is his choice. In the same way, the Word of God is the doctor telling us to quit sin. But the choice is up to us. Overcoming sin is difficult. But with God, we can defeat the wiles of he devil. Christ overcame the devil’s temptation with the Word of God (Matthew 4: 4, 7, 10). T

Some Of The "Imperfections” Of The Mosaic Law (the Book of Hebrews)

By Jimmy Lau on Hebrews What Were Some Of The "Imperfections” Of The Mosaic Law? 1. High Priests: They were sinners and they died and therefore they kept on changing (Heb. 7:23-28).  2. The Sacrifices: They needed to be done continually because they could not remove sin (10:2-4). 3. Redemption: The law revealed sin but offered no redemption (10:4). HOW IS THE NEW COVENANT BETTER?      1. A more EXCELLENT AND UNCHANGING HIGH PRIEST who is exalted in heaven (v.1). 2. An EXCELLENT SACRIFICE which cleanses away the sins of the world (10:10-14, 18; John 1:29). 3. IS SPIRITUAL: The Old Law was written in tables of stones; the New in the hearts (v.10). 4. BETTER KNOWLEDGE OF GOD: During the Jewish dispensation, the average Jew had only an exceedingly dim apprehension of religious truth, whether about God or the way to Him. But, under the New Covenant, they are clearly revealed (v.11). 5. MERCY: The Old Law condemned the transgressors; the New offers mercy and forgi
