Our Souls Depend On Living Faithfully

From: TFTW Bible Collge In fact, the Bible makes it very clear that once you start following Christ, it is up to you to continue to follow Christ. Let’s look at some ways Paul’s writings in the Bible show us that you can “fall from grace,” or lose your salvation. Paul wrote to Christians in Corinth and said, “ Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. ” ( 1 Corinthians 10:12 ) Paul also wrote, “ For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.”  ( 2 Timothy 4:10 ) To “forsake” means to leave something behind on purpose. Apparently, Demas was working with Paul.   “Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers. ” ( Philemon 1:24 ) But, using his own free will, Demas decided to leave the work of Christianity behind and did it on purpose. Paul explains the reason as the fact that Demas “ loved this present world. ” Demas forgot about the better life to come in...

Singing Praises To God

圖片
Jimmy Lau Today, we are living in “ strange lands ”. The world is in a pandemic. And the pandemic has changed the world. It has changed the world in the way it used to conduct its businesses, social activities, and religions. Currently, we are prevented from congregating and singing together. Should we be in the mood for singing praises to God?   The answer is an astounding YES! God loves to hear us sing. Solomon says: “ For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven ” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).   This year may well be the season for the COVID-19 pandemic. We don’t know why it comes nor when it will go away. Yet, though we are sad, we still have so much to be thankful for. In fact, the most important thing we should do in the middle of any crisis is to praise God. Paul and Silas sang praises to God while in a prison in Philippi (Acts 16:25).   Praises to God shouldn’t stop because of a pandemic. On the contrary, we need God more than ever: “ The LORD ...

1 Sam. 27 - trust in God in bad times

by Jimmy Lau 1Sa 27:1   And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.  He said in his heart  – David did not ask God what he should do. Perhaps he was thinking that God wanted him to do something instead of waiting. Aren’t we the same too? At times, we do think perhaps God wants us to do it this or that way. And we acted based on our guesswork.   I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul  – David has forgotten that God has been delivering him all these times that Saul seeks his life. Has God ever told him He has stopped protecting him and he is now on his own? The answer is NO! Fear comes in when we stop trusting God. Why did David doubt God now? I think it is because he has grown weary - weariness, fatigue, an...

From Kwan Thai Chun
