From WVBS Russell Haffner Luke 10:18 — “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven” 路加福音 10:18 —「我曾看見撒但從天上墜落,像閃電一樣」 There have been various interpretations of this phrase. The Original Fall of Satan — 撒但最初的墮落 Isaiah 14:12  — "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!" Jude 1:6  — "And the angels who did not keep their proper domain... He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness." A Prophecy of Satan’s Final Defeat — 撒但最終毀滅的預言 Revelation 20:10  — "The devil... was thrown into the lake of fire..." The Present Collapse of Satan’s Power — 撒但權勢正在瓦解 In the context ( Luke 10:17–20 ), Jesus saw that the disciples’ victories over demons were signs of Satan’s power breaking — as sudden and visible as lightning. Luke 10:20 — “Do not rejo...

Has Satan Always Existed?

From: ERIC LYONS, M.Min.   https://apologeticspress.org/has-satan-always-existed-817/   From a very early age, children learn about the righteousness of God and the wickedness of Satan. We teach children that God is the loving, powerful, and all-knowing Creator and Sustainer of life Who wants them to live right and go to heaven. We also tell them that there is an evil being called Satan who is very influential in the world, and who is doing everything he possibly can to keep them out of heaven. Many Sunday mornings in Bible class, children either sing or study about these two beings. This time of study certainly is worthwhile because children are taught to obey God (John 14:15) and to resist the devil (1 Peter 5:8). In time, however, if young people are not offered additional teaching about the origin of Satan and the eternal nature of God, many inadvertently begin to form a picture in their minds of two opposing “gods” who are at war with each other. Like two heavyw...

Adversities

圖片
Jimmy Lau How should we look at adversities? A human tendency is to look at opposition and problems as a sign that we are doing something wrong or that God does not want us to go there or do that work. If that is true, the apostles and the first century Christians would have stopped preaching the gospel then. But the field was ready for harvest through the adversaries were many: “ And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women ” (Acts 5:14).   Life never went smoothly for Paul (2 Corinthians 11:22-33). But he soldiered on, overcoming the adversities one by one: “ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith ” (2 Timothy 4:7). Paul’s ministry wasn’t a stroll in the park but a fight in the ring.   What are some of the adversaries we may encountaer? Self  – We are our greatest enemy: “ For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do ” (Romans 7:19). Worldliness . The world is ...

Church Discipline (1 Co 5:6)

圖片
Jimmy Lau 1Co 5:6  Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?  In this chapter, Paul mentions a specific moral issue happening in the church at Corinth - someone was having his father’s wife; he was sleeping with his stepmother (v.1). Paul calls it fornication.   What did the church do about it? They bragged about it! “ And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you ” (v.2).   The attitude of the Corinthians was they “ were puffed up ”. The words seem to indicate that they were encouraging the sinner in his sinful way. It’s like giving him a thumb’s up and saying: “Wow, you got class.” Instead of being humiliated and covered with a sense of shame, they were encouraging it. Paul was flabbergasted. He said such kind of incestuous relationship would be considered taboo even by the world, yet the Corinthian Christians seemed accepting of it.   W...
