Doing Good and Doing Right

圖片
Doing good  without doing what is  right  in God's eyes can lead to spiritual compromise. God's righteousness must define what is good, not our own compassion or reasoning.  Even if someone seems to do "good" by supporting a family, if it involves breaking laws or harming others (like selling harmful products such as illegal cigarettes), it cannot be justified as right. God wants us to love mercy  and  do justice. Mercy must not cancel justice. We can be compassionate to someone in need, but still uphold righteousness. Mercy and justice are not opposites; they work together under God's truth and good intentions don’t justify wrong doing.  Proverbs 14:12 –  “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” Just because something feels right or seems compassionate doesn't mean it's spiritually safe. If a law enforcer allows someone to continue sinning (continue to do wrong) out of pity, that person may never feel the ...

With ChatGpt 「愛是不計算人的惡。」

1 Co 13:5 Think No Evil

圖片
By Albert Barnes Thinketh no evil -  That is, puts the best possible construction on the motives and the conduct of others. This expression also is “comparative.” It means that love, or that a person under the influence of love, is not malicious, censorious, disposed to find fault, or to impute improper motives to others. It is not only “not easily provoked,” not soon excited, but it is not disposed to “think” that there was any evil intention even in cases which might tend to irritate or exasperate us.  It is not disposed to think that there was any evil in the case; or that what was done was with any improper intention or design; that is, it puts the best possible construction on the conduct of others, and supposes, as far as can be done, that it was in consistency with honesty, truth, friendship, and love.  The Greek word ( λογίζεται   logizetai ) is that which is commonly rendered “impute,” and is correctly rendered here “thinketh.” It means, does not reckon, ch...

From: https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/ZnbiA7jBF_YpIC6LfmIA_Q

Are You A Good Listener? (James 1:19)

圖片
Dave Chamberlin     J ames tells us that we should be a people who are  “quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger.”  (James 1: 19) There is certainly a gift that can be learned in becoming a better listener.  James is concerned with the anger of man, within the context of this particular verse, when he concludes the thought with the fact that  “the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.”  (James 1: 20)       Our concern should be that we work on our anger if that indeed is a problem.  It is easy while having a “spirited” discussion with someone, to not listen to them but to use those moments to feed our own anger.  We need to take time to listen to those who are talking to us.       Someone has come up with “Six Steps To Becoming A Better Listener” and they are worth repeating here.  You will note that they form a LADDER—one...

How To Live Faithfully - Love

From: TFTW Bible College How can we show the love of God and the love for our fellow man? We can do it both physically and spiritually. Physically, we can treat others as we would like to be treated. “ Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Spiritually, we can put the eternal salvation of the other person above other things. Could we say the best thing that could happen to someone would be that they go to Heaven when they die? If so, then agape love would be wanting what is best for the other person, even if you don’t get what you want. Therefore, if I am to show agape love to others spiritually, I will want them to learn about the steps to salvation and living faithfully, even if it means I don’t get what I want. Who Are The Broken-Hearted

Jimmy Lau Psa 147:3   He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.  Who Are The Broken-Hearted? 1. Those whose hearts are broken by circumstances . Israel in exile was broken-hearted. Their spirit was crushed and broken by their long captivity: “ By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion ” (Psalm 137:1).   Your heart may be broken by the current pandemic affecting the whole world. Perhaps you have lost your job. Perhaps you have lost a loved one to the pandemic. Remember our God heals the broken-hearted and binds up the wounds. Psalm 119:50 says: “ This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me. ”   The word “quickened” is an old English word which means to give life. In his most depressing moments, the Psalmist’s spirit was revived, comforted by the Word of God.   Today, when we are suffering afflictions, we can find the same comfort from the Word of God. Self-hatred vs. the Gospel (1 Pet. 5:7)

June 14, 2020   by  Jack Wilkie    https://www.focuspress.org/2020/06/14/self-hatred-vs-the-gospel/   The following is a feature from the June 2020 issue of  Think  magazine, an issue focused on worldly self-love vs. Biblical self-care. To subscribe,  click here . I apologize as this may be a weird, uncomfortable, challenging article, but I write it because I was led to a weird, uncomfortable, challenging conclusion recently: I hate myself. I’ve long been familiar with the term self-loathing or self-hatred, and naturally, it has always sounded like a terrible condition. I’ve always felt bad for those who struggle with it. But I assumed it entailed walking around all day telling yourself how terrible you are, not being able to look at yourself in the mirror, and the like. The symptoms aren’t always quite that extreme, though. They can seem normal, and it’s easy to convince one’s self that everybody probably goes through the same things. A f...
