Proverbs 18:21

Pro 18:21  生死在舌頭的權下，喜愛他的，必吃他所結的果子。

(KJV)  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

(NASB)  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.



I don't understand what "it" is here? 中文應該翻譯成「它」，而不是「他」。

  • The Cambridge Bible of Schools and Colleges says:
love it i.e. delight in using it, as an instrument either of “death” or of “life.”

     Because of the tongue’s power it is imperative to 
     use it properly. 


所以能夠當成死或活的工具的，我認為就是「舌頭」了。

我們必須善用我們的舌頭，說造就人的話，這會影響到我們的生命！！

It is a therapeutic view of forgiveness. Forgiveness is about me. We see this in the way the word “forgiveness” is used. For example, we will hear people say that you need to forgive yourself. This does not make sense using the word biblically. The scriptures never say to forgive yourself. But what people mean about forgiving yourself is this unilateral internal effort to get your own emotions under control and move yourself to some sort of happy place. This is not a biblical view but you can see why there is confusion when we discuss forgiveness from a biblical basis.  Another example of this misunderstanding of forgiveness is that you will hear people say that they have forgiven God or cannot forgive God.
