From TFTW Bible College Some try to dismiss the idea of God because there is so much evil in the world. Their argument is that if there is a God, then He would stop or prevent all the evil and suffering in the world. But how do you determine something is evil without God to declare it as evil? If there is no God, then the universe is an accident and what you call “evil” is really just “evil” because you don’t like it. The murderer may murder and think it is a good thing to do, but you may look at murder and call it “evil.”  With no God to be holy and just judge, then who’s to say who is right? If the universe is an accident, then there is no purpose to what we do when we are dead nothing will have mattered anyway, and I will never answer to anyone after my life is over. So, with no God, whether or not I murder doesn’t matter and cannot be declared “good” or “evil.” The truth is, you cannot declare something as “good” or “evil” unless it is backed up by God also declaring it good or...

Jimmy Lau 1Co 5:6  Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?  In this chapter, Paul mentions a specific moral issue happening in the church at Corinth - someone was having his father’s wife; he was sleeping with his stepmother (v.1). Paul calls it fornication.   What did the church do about it? They bragged about it! “ And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you ” (v.2).   The attitude of the Corinthians was they “ were puffed up ”. The words seem to indicate that they were encouraging the sinner in his sinful way. It’s like giving him a thumb’s up and saying: “Wow, you got class.” Instead of being humiliated and covered with a sense of shame, they were encouraging it. Paul was flabbergasted. Kwan Tai Choon 虽然论断的话和责备的话是相同的， 但论断人和责备人是不同的。 比如我作了一件事， 论断我的人说，如何不对、如何不好； 责备我的人也说如何不对、如何不好； 但他们说话的出发点不同， 一个是出自害人的心， 一个是出自爱人的心； 并且说话的地点也是不同， 一个是在我的背后说， 一个是在我的面前说。 我们可以说责备的话， 但不可以说论断的话。 我们的主常说责备的话， 有时责备的话是很严厉， 祂却不说论断的话。 主说：「我从来是明明的对世人说话； 我常在会堂和殿里， 就是犹太人聚集的地方，教训人； 我在暗地里，并没有说什么。」 （约十八20） 主耶稣曾七次责备假冒为善的人有祸了， 祂不是在背后说「他们」法利赛人和文士有祸了， 乃是当面说「你们」法利赛人和文士有祸了。 主的话虽然严厉， 却不是背后论断、定人的罪， 乃是当面责备，叫人悔改。 我们若对弟兄姊妹有什么要说的话， 若是用「你们」，就可以说出来， 若是用「他们」，最好闭口不言。 他们的事不用我们管，有神来管， 我们自己还管不好自己， 哪有权柄管别人的事？ 保罗说：「你是谁，竟论断别人的仆人呢？ 他或站住，或跌倒，自有他的主人在； 而且他也必要站着；因为主能使他站住。」（罗十四4） 又说：「你这个人，为什么论断弟兄呢？ 又为什么轻看弟兄呢？ 因我们都要站在神的台前。」 （罗十四10）阿们！

Indeed, there are so many wrong ways to judge a person. So, why judge, knowing we will be wrong?   Yet, we can’t help. So, what should we do? 1.  Look for basic goodness -  Even a lion knows how to protect its pride: “ Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others ” (Philippians 2:4). 2.  Give the benefit of the doubt  – You don’t know what the other person has gone through: “ Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment ” (John 7:24). 3.  Be open  - When someone does something you don’t like, or does a certain thing differently from you, think of it as he is simply solving a problem in a different way than you would, after all, we are all different: “ So recei...
