The Lord’s Supper Under Extenuating Circumstances

During our Thursday Bible class, an interesting question was raised: Can a Christian partake of the Lord’s Supper alone when no congregation is available? This is not a question that most Christians face regularly. However, situations such as military deployment, scientific research in remote locations, imprisonment, or working in isolated regions may create unusual circumstances. These are what we might call **extenuating circumstances**. --- ## How Does the Bible Teach? In our study, we were reminded that biblical authority is commonly established through three avenues: A direct statement or instruction from Scripture. A conclusion that must logically follow from what Scripture teaches.

When did the Lord's Supper be set? (Mt 26:29; Lk 22:15-18)

圖片
below is by    Dan Jenkins  at  https://churchofchristarticles.com/kingdom-lords-supper/ Jesus taught the Lord’s Supper would be part of the kingdom.  It was in the upper room that Jesus promised He would eat the Lord’s Supper with His followers when the kingdom came. Jesus said, “But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom” (Matt. 26:29). He and eighty-three other Divinely sent messengers had proclaimed that the kingdom was about to be established.  Now in the upper room, what Jesus said placed a time limit on the time it would come. He said, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I say to you I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God . . .  I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes” (Luke 22:15-18). His words clearly state that the cup with the fru...

參考資料: https://kingkonget.wordpress.com/2018/04/18/從主餐的意義反思我們在主餐時應有的態度/   Enable Ginger Cannot connect to Ginger Check your internet connection or reload the browser Disable in this text field Edit Edit in Ginger Edit in Ginger × Enable Ginger Cannot connect to Ginger Check your internet connection or reload the browser Disable in this text field Edit Edit in Ginger Edit in Ginger × Enable Ginger Cannot connect to Ginger Check your internet connection or reload the browser Disable in this text field Edit Edit in Ginger Edit in Ginger × Enable Ginger Canno...

Worship and Take Lord Supper Alone?

圖片
Can a Christian worship alone and take the Lord's supper alone? No , if there is a church where he can attend to worship. Yes, if there is no church where he can attend. Can brethren take the Lord's supper to a sick sister and let her have it on her bed? No. There are no biblical example to do it. No scriptures that we can read to support this. Sick person and can't attend is excusable to God. (by D.T.Q.) But it is not required to take the Lord's supper to those who cannot assemble.   This has become a tradition with some churches of Christ and traditions become very strong in the hearts of some people. They are used to them and begin to believe that they are required or we have a hard unloving heart if we do not follow these tradition...

Why I Believe in Taking the Lord’s Supper Every Sunday  by   Wes   |   Aug 24, 2016   |   Church  (radicallychristian.com) 在這段經文之前,保羅說明是「 你們聚會的時候」(英文較為明確: come together in the church) ( 1 Corinthians 11:18 )。

3 Suggestions for the Lord’s Supper by  Wes  |  May 10, 2017  |  Church  ( radicallychristian.com ) 當主帶領以色列人出埃及後,祂設立了一年一次的逾越節,來提醒以色列人祂的作為。
