The Called Out
From: TFTW Bible College
The Greek word translated “church” means “the called out.” The conversion of a Christian means leaving the life of sin and the ways of the world and turning to follow Christ. “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:16-18)
Paul told the Christians in Corinth not to be like the world, but rather to be different. He said that God would be a Father to them and they would be sons and daughters. Here we see the idea that Christians are the family of God.
