"You will know the truth” 你必曉得真理 From:  JACK WILKIE   https://jackwilkie.co/p/certainty-isnt-a-sin   Translation & Edition 翻譯&編輯: Joyce Yang As both bad guys and good guys get pushed out of their respective black and white and into a gray, neutral territory, this same kind of thinking seeps into our doctrine. Who are we to say someone definitively isn’t saved? Isn’t it arrogant to say we have right doctrine? Won’t people be turned away if we don’t come to them with ambiguity and a willingness to admit we might be wrong about Jesus? Certainty and “thus saith the Lord” kind of talk are off-putting, right? We don’t want to be “ dogmatic ,” do we? Because of all of this, David repeatedly calling for God to crush his enemies while maintaining his own righteousness makes us seriously uncomfor...

SEVEN THINGS THAT HAVE HELPED ME GO ON LIVING

Joyce Yang  1. Pray.  Pour out your heart to God (I Thes. 5:17). 2. I count my blessings. It’s amazing how it changes my mindset when I focus on my blessings and not my bruises (Psalm 103:2). It transforms me from pitying myself to thinking that I am richly blessed. I go from thinking I have it worse than anyone to thinking that I have it better than anyone. 1. 3. Don’t live in the past. This always takes me to a bad place (Phil. 3:13). 4. Christianity changes everything. It gives me a purpose, a goal, a reason to live, and something to look forward to (I Cor. 15:58). I have to remember why I’m here. This life is not about my comfort, it’s about serving the Lord. I may be able to do that better in my broken situation. 5. Spend time in the Word (Psalm 119:27). It’s amazing how it cha...

RETURN TO THE LORD 歸向神 (Joel 約珥書2:13-14)

Warren E. Berkley Translation & Edition  翻譯: Joyce Yang Built in to the message of the prophets was the appeal to repent. These men were sent by God to expose sin and urge the guilty to repent. Often the appeal was framed as a challenge to return to the Lord (Isaiah 6:10; Jeremiah 3:1; Malachi 3:7). For instance, Joel’s appeal to Judah was for the people to repent of their sins. “So rend your heart”, and “return to the Lord your God” (Joel 2:13). Through the distribution of His judgments (locusts, drought, desolation), God admonished His people to come out of their sin and back to Him. It was His loving purpose to prompt a change in their direction. The essential definition of repentance has not changed through the dispensations. We can, therefore, use Joel’s statement as the basis for our understanding of returning to the Lord. And this study can find application for those who have been baptized but left their God.
