权柄（Authority）和权力（Power）分别使用不同的英文词语来描述，可见两者之间确有区别，但是也有人把两者都翻译为“能力”，并不加以区分。

“权柄”

常指从生命或榜样而来的“影响力”。若说某领袖拥有属灵的“权威”，就是形容他有其他人所没有的“权柄”和“影响力”。主耶稣讲道具备属灵“权柄”，比当时的文士更有能力（参可1:22），这里就翻译为“权柄”，所以主耶稣是有权柄的主（Authority）。

(Chinese UV (T)) 眾人很希奇他的教訓；因為他教訓他們，正像有權柄的人，不像文士。

(KJV) And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

“能力”或“权力”

常指能够行出神迹的大能，例如耶稣平静风和海（参可4:35-41）的时候，门徒说：“这到底是谁？连大自然界都听从他。”主耶稣是满有大能（Power）的主！能力是一种实际的大能，也是一种像“火药”一般的力量。

请参可5:30，当中提到有“能力”从耶稣身上出来。
