1 Sam. 12 - blameless

By Jimmy Lau

1Sa 12:5  And he said unto them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered, He is witness.

Every Christian is to be and to live above reproach. What does Christ want His church to be like? “He has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him” (Colossians 1:22, ESV).  “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:27). The entire chapter of Colossians 3 is telling us to live a blameless life.

Now, how does one live a blameless life? The instructions are found on every page of the Bible. It can be summarised in three words: “Walk in Love” (Ephesians 5:2). Paul wrote: “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law” (Romans 13:10). Love completes everything. If you love, you will not do harm but only good to your brethren.

Our Lord says: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). May our lives glorify our God who is in heaven.
